Winter is the season of the year that is accompanied by limited outdoor activities. The outdoor activities during winter are regarded unnecessary by most people. Therefore, most people usually wait for spring to come for them to do one or two things to their gardens. The environment can suffer harm due to the adverse weather in winter. There is a way to protect your environment from this harm. This will also give you an early start before the onset of the warmer months. The warmer months are best suited for the outdoor activities. Similarly, there are also several tasks that can be done in the garden. This will help to lessen the burden during the warmer months.

Caring for your lawn is among the tasks that you can do during the cold winter season. One can do this by removing any weed present. This is essential since it will help to prevent the weeds from heavily infesting your lawn. The lawn is usually filled with heavy frost or snow. It is advised that you should avoid walking on the lawn at this time as you can damage the grass underneath the snow. Winter may not be severe in all seasons. Cutting the lawn is encouraged when winter is mild. It is, however, important to remember to raise the height of the blades of the mower. Hence, the onset of spring will not be accompanied by a lot of work to do.

You should also take it upon yourself to take care of your entertainment area. There are fewer outdoor activities during winter. Some of the items used in outdoor entertainment may not be fully protected when they remain outside. To guarantee the protection of these items, you should move them inside the house. Pressure washing the deck is also a good idea. Feeding the bird is the other thing to do during this time of the year. Feeding the birds is important during this time of the year. The limited time makes it difficult for the birds to fetch for themselves. Water is another essential that you should offer the birds with. Treating the local birdlife with berries and nuts is also a good idea.

You can also plant some berries. There are very many species of berries that one can plant. Examples are holly, mistletoe, and hawthorn. This will make your garden to be a destination of many local birds. Hence, your garden will become the destination of choice for the local birds.

Lastly, you must ensure the winter survival of your favorite winter plants. One way of doing this is by bringing them under a glass and then raising the container off the ground. The bubble wrap or the old fleece may also be used to help keep the plant warm. One should never forget to remove the wrap one winter is over to ensure air circulation.
